10 Must Use ChatGPT Prompts for PPC Ads and Content

The invention of ChatGPT has transformed the marketing landscape and everyone’s approach to content creation and copywriting. Many marketing creatives are focused on using ChatGPT to generate long-form content, but it is also super effective with PPC! However, it can be overwhelming to figure out what prompts to use and where to begin. Proper ChatGPT prompts will allow you to generate high-quality responses from ChatGPT that will transform your PPC campaigns for the better. 10 ChatGPT Prompts for PPC Ads and Landing Page Content 1. Headline Writing Write me 15 headlines in Google Ads responsive search ad format for [company] in [industry]. Yes, ChatGPT knows what Responsive Search Ads are, but it does not abide by character limits (yet)! Although that is a limitation, it still does an outstanding job of writing emotional headlines and promoting offers. Use this prompt to help you brainstorm headline ideas that evoke emotion and agitate your ideal customer’s pain points. 2. Description Writing Write me 15 descriptions in the Google Ads Responsive Search Ad format that go along with the headlines you just provided. Like the headline idea shared previously, you can use ChatGPT to write your Responsive Search Ad descriptions. Many people don’t realize that ChatGPT is excellent at taking follow-up instructions. You just need to be highly specific about what you want it to mention, and you’ll be presented with some great descriptions to use as a starting point. 3. Ad Extension (Assets) Writing Provide me with 10 Google Callout extensions for a [company] that offers [services] Ad Extensions (now called Ad Assets) allow advertisers to take up more real estate in the search results and increase ad prominence. Why not use ChatGPT to help your ads be more prominent with short, unique offers? Save time by getting some great ad asset ideas from ChatGPT! 4. A/B Testing Give me 2 ad variations in RSA format using headlines and descriptions for [company]. Why are these good variations to test? To know what messaging resonates with your audience, you should test at least two Responsive Search Ads in every ad group. Use ChatGPT to help you develop different ad variations with two points of focus. In the example above, the first variation was focused on urgency, and the second was focused on the discount. Would patients be more inclined to call with “urgency-based” messaging or “discount-based” messaging? The only way to know is to test! 5. Content Ideation Write me some compelling and emotional landing page copy to convince users from my PPC Google Ads campaign to call or submit a form for [company]. ChatGPT can help you sell! Well, kind of. It can help you be persuasive in your ad copy and content to convince users to take action on your landing page. 6. Translation Translate the headlines to [language]. Are you serving more than just the English-speaking market? If so, use ChatGPT to help you translate your ads. Just be careful and have a native speaker proofread just in case something gets lost in translation. Note: ChatGPT translation is only available in Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean at this time. 7. Formatting For Ads Format this sentence in title/sentence casing. Depending on how you want to write your ads, you can use ChatGPT to help you format them to either be title-cased or sentence-cased. Which version is better for performance? The only way to know is to test, but definitely make sure that your headlines are title-cased. 8. Calls-To-Action Ideas What are 5 different calls-to-action ideas that I can ask a user to take from my PPC ad for a local orthodontist? Are you tired of seeing the same generic calls-to-actions by all your competitors? ChatGPT can help you stand out from the crowd but using this prompt. If you want to take it a step further, provide ChatGPT with all your competitors’ calls-to-actions and ask for it to come up with something even better that will get a high response rate! 9. Generate New Offers Provide me 5 offer ideas that I can give to [customer type] This is a similar idea to the call-to-action prompt previously. This prompt allows you to generate new, compelling offer ideas to test. You never know what’s going to get your audience to become a lead, so it’s worth trying a few variations! 10. Landing Page Ideation Give me some ideas for a fully optimized landing page for an orthodontist in Seattle who is running Google Ads. The goal is to get as many form submissions and phone calls as possible. What sections would you include on the landing page, and what types of pictures would you include?  ChatGPT can tell you how to organize your landing page for the best potential results. This prompt is quite detailed but gets a precise response from ChatGPT that helps develop ways to organize your landing page. Remember, the more specific you are, the better answers you will get from ChatGPT. ChatGPT and the Future of Professional Marketers As of now, ChatGPT is not able to replace an experienced marketer that can reason and make thoughtful recommendations, but it is a great assistant! With these ChatGPT prompts for PPC ads, you can quickly generate creative ad copy and content ideas to help improve your campaign performance. However, it’s essential to remember that as PPC advertising continually evolves, so should your strategy. Important Note About Plagiarism and ChatGPT Prompts for PPC Ads All the prompts presented here are meant to give you ideas on content creative for your PPC campaign. It’s important to take any ChatGPT-produced content and make it your own to avoid any plagiarism and/or duplicate content issues.   Michelle KopMichelle Kop is a marketing consultant and award-winning pay-per-click marketing strategist. 11 Essential ChatGPT Prompts for Google Ads Research & Planning

ChatGPT has taken the world by storm, and digital marketers are looking for new ChatGPT prompts to get the most out of this AI platform. Use it to be your personal assistant to help do everyday mundane tasks you would be typically overwhelmed with. What is ChatGPT? ChatGPT is a large language model trained with a large dataset of information. Its goal is to provide real-time, human-like responses that are coherent and contextually appropriate to any questions and prompts. OpenAI developed it, and the latest version, ChatGPT-3, has been trained on a dataset that spans several decades up until 2021. You are more likely to get a high-quality response if you are highly specific with your ChatGPT request. ChatGPT Prompts for Research and Planning While many are using ChatGPT for copywriting purposes, it can do so much more than that. Did you know it can quickly research and plan more effective Google Ads campaigns? Well, that’s if you know what prompts to use! Note that the answers you get from ChatGPT will only be as good as the context and questions you prompt it with. Vague questions lead to vague answers, so be sure to be as specific as possible! Here are 11 powerful ChatGPT prompts that will help you be more efficient when it comes to the research and planning phase of your PPC campaign: 1. Keyword Research What are 20 keywords that someone would search if they were looking for [pain point or industry]? ChatGPT can help with keyword research! Feed it a quick prompt for some keyword suggestions from the point of view of your ideal customer persona, and it will do some brainstorming for you. 2. Competitor Research Create a list of 10 competitors to [company name]. Here’s a handy “go-to” prompt that can help identify competitors in your local area that you may not have heard of. This prompt can be a “hit or miss” depending on the geographic location. Remember, ChatGPT-3 has been trained on a dataset of web pages released up until 2021. It may not be accurate if new competitors have popped up in the last few months. 3. Negative Keyword Research Come up with a complete list of negative keywords for a company in [x] industry Negative keywords are crucial to running a successful PPC campaign to block irrelevant traffic from seeing your ads. Additionally, negative keywords help to reduce wasted budget. Use ChatGPT to provide a negative keyword list and prompt it with your business type along with who you’re trying to target and avoid. 4. ChatGPT Prompt for Ideal Customer Persona Research Who would be an ideal customer for [company] in [industry]? Please be specific about their demographics with age, pain points, and income. To better understand your ideal customer persona, you can ask ChatGPT to describe the demographics and interests. This will help with audience targeting within your PPC campaign. 5. Objection Research Why would someone choose not to do business with [company name/type]? This is a unique prompt that many have yet heard of! It shows us potential objections one may have about using a specific service or product. These can be used to create highly relevant ad copy and landing page content, so you can better address the concerns of that unsure prospect. 6. More Keyword Research Here are some of my top-performing keywords for [company]. Help me find another 20 more that are similar to this. This prompt is for keyword research, but it asks ChatGPT to consider the current top-performing keywords in an existing campaign. It is excellent for keyword expansion opportunities. 7. Audience Research If I were going to run ads for [company] in Google Ads, what types of audiences should I target? Include affinity and in-market audiences in your response. If you’re stuck on audience ideas for your campaign, look no further than this prompt for ChatGPT! It’s a great starting point to develop some audience segments to target from the start. You will never have roadblocks when it comes to research and planning. 8. Campaign Research Provide me an example of a Google Ads campaign that could be used for an orthodontist in [city]. Include the campaign name, target location, languages, networks, devices, ad group name, keywords, ad copy, landing pages, budget, ad schedule, and any other notes you think are necessary to be successful. This prompt is perfect for beginners, but it’s also one of my favorites to get a quick “jump start” on mapping campaigns from a high level. It’s an excellent starting point to guide you on what your settings, ads, ad groups, budgets, and landing page should look like before you start your campaign build. 9. Keyword Research + Search Volume Give me Google Ads keywords for a locksmith business in Los Angeles and format them in a table with monthly search volumes. You already know that ChatGPT can do keyword research, but did you know that it can also give search volumes? Please note that these numbers may not be up-to-date, so you should double-check in the Google Keyword Planner. This prompt is a quick and easy way to directionally see what keywords are getting the most monthly search volume. 10. Keyword Research + Intent Categorization ChatGPT Prompt Can you add an additional column to that table and filter by the keyword search intent by marking them as top, middle, and bottom of the funnel keywords? Another cool way to use ChatGPT is to prompt it with a follow-up question based on its provided answers. In this case, I asked ChatGPT to add another column to the table and rank each keyword based on intent. This is fantastic for budget allocation and campaign segmentation. For example, you can bid more on bottom-of-the-funnel keywords since that typically indicates a higher intent which means these searchers are ready to purchase. 11. Audience Research + Customer Persona Creation Provide me with the 10 most affluent cities in [area] ranked by median household income. Let’s say you want to

How To Use ChatGPT with Google Ads PPC

With the advancement of artificial intelligence, more people are observing how it can transform the way we communicate and interact with the world. This includes digital marketers! If you have not heard the commotion about the latest technological development in the AI space, it’s time to pay VERY close attention. ChatGPT has entered the chat. This AI tool is disrupting the way people work and is revolutionizing content creation and strategy planning for digital marketers. What is ChatGPT? ChatGPT is a language chatbot developed by OpenAI that generates human-like responses in real time for a given prompt. This can be used for business-related items like customer service, writing ad copy, and research. OpenAI used massive amounts of data in order for ChatGPT to accurately predict what word comes next in a sentence. Chat GPT & PPC Use Cases Now, onto the most exciting part of the blog post. We’re going to explore how you can use ChatGPT to your advantage with Google Ads PPC. We’ve uncovered 6 of the most practical use cases for PPC marketers to leverage AI to their advantage to level up and move quicker in the campaign planning and development process: 1. Keyword Suggestions ChatGPT can quickly pull a list of keywords to get you started with the planning phase of your campaign. While ChatGPT cannot provide real-time search volume data in specific geographic areas or competition levels that you would typically get in the Google Keyword Planner, it can still help generate a quick list of keyword suggestions to get you started in the campaign planning process. The tool is extremely helpful when it comes to generating synonyms and new keyword ideas when you’re stuck!            2. Creating a Customer Persona When creating a PPC campaign, it’s critical that you know your customer persona. And for some businesses, multiple customer personas are needed. You’ll want to understand your customer persona’s needs, pain points, household income, demographics, etc. Using the orthodontist example from our previous section, let’s take a look at who would be potential patients for an orthodontist: Notice how ChatGPT mentions that orthodontic treatment is beneficial for people of all ages but that it’s commonly started during early teenage years. This can give us clues about who to target. In this specific example, we may not want to exclude any age demographics but put more emphasis on parents of children and teens. 3. Identify the Best Cities to Target Sure, you may already know the service areas you want to attract new business from but from the orthodontist example, what if this orthodontist only offered private-pay services and did not accept insurance? Then the PPC strategy would change and you would want to be smarter about the cities you target to only attract those who would be willing to pay around $6K out-of-pocket for orthodontic treatment. This use case is great if you are looking to target higher-income demographics and those living in cities with high household incomes. Remember, you need to be specific in order for ChatGPT to provide the best output. In this example, the prompt was very specific – asking for affluent cities with average household income by city and it delivered (along with a few caveats).   Based on this information, you can decide how you want to organize your campaigns for the best possible results. 4. Competitor Research Tell ChatGPT to find competitors to a specific business in a specific area. This one is a hit or miss and has worked for some niches sometimes but could still be worthwhile to try out. It’s nowhere near a SpyFu or Semrush but see how it works for you! After identifying some competitors, you can do your own research to see if they are advertising. See if you can glean anything from their online marketing presence or strategy. 5. Ad Copy Creation One of the most efficient ways to use ChatGPT is to generate ideas for headlines and descriptions in your Responsive Search Ads. You will need to provide specific instructions, such as: Create ad copy that targets commercial roof customers and persuade them to contact a roofing company. See below for what ChatGPT generated: Do those descriptions seem a little too long for Google’s 30-character headline limit? It’s because they are! One important thing to note is that ChatGPT is not yet robust enough to align with Google’s character restrictions, so your headlines and descriptions will not usually meet the character requirements. However, that isn’t a bad thing! It’s critical that you take these suggestions and make them your own to avoid plagiarism. 6. Generate Landing Page Content Your landing page copy is just as important as your Responsive Search Ads. Once you drive qualified traffic to your landing page, they still need to be persuaded to take action and become a lead. The landing page content should be persuasive and in a tone that speaks to the customer’s pain points. In this case, ChatGPT was asked to produce an emotional and compelling copy – remember to always address pain points! Great elements of this ChatGPT copy include the call-to-action, the questions that address the patient’s pain point being self-conscious and biting with misaligned teeth, and speaking to unique value propositions. An additional idea for ChatGPT in regards to using it to create content for your landing page is to use it to come up with common objections a potential customer would use. In the below prompt, ChatGPT was asked why someone would avoid orthodontic treatment and ChatGPT was able to give reasons and these are all great objections to tackle on the landing page: Based on the info above, you could create a special FAQ section on the landing page or just plan to address these points throughout the landing page. A Little Side Note About ChatGPT: When using content generated by ChatGPT, be sure to make it your own. You can use it as a point of inspiration when you have a creative roadblock or are looking
